This is a desperate situation. We have two chihuahuas that we want to pull from the Carlsbad shelter.
Meet Toto and Wubbles.
They belonged to a 92-year-old man who just died today. They have little hope of being adopted at the shelter, if they are even put in the adoptable section, which I doubt. Right now, they are in Lost and Found, because a friend of the 92-year-old took them there last week. Its so sad that his beloved companions have ended up in such jeopardy.
They have little hope of being adopted because Wubbles, the older one, is 15 years old! When one of my coworkers who was helping the old man took Wubbles home, he cried all night. The other chihuahua, Toto, is only 5 years old, but he is a fear biter. Additionally, they need a refresher course in housetraining.
The few of us who want to keep them at our houses already have too many animals. Both of them would probably be long term fosters, although if Toto was rehabilitated, he would be adoptable. Even if someone would foster just one or both of them for 2-4 weeks, it would give us some more time to find a long term foster.
Please network and share these sweet babies as much as you can! If you can foster, please contact Jessica at firstname.lastname@example.org, 619.239.6686 X 115, or 619.838.6686.
