Fiesta Island Dog Owners Need Volunteers!

Posted: Updated:

Are you able to volunteer for FIDO at upcoming event tables?

We're looking for FIDO members to volunteer for 2 or 3 hours to work a table where we sign up new FIDO members, sell FIDO t-shirts, bumper stickers and generally answer questions about the status of plans for Fiesta Island.

Status of Plans

We have written to Mayor Faulconer requesting him to include an update to the Mission Bay Master Plan in the upcoming budget. So it's important for FIDO to continue to push the process forward until our park is officially adopted on City Plans - which, even if we get this process - would still take years. The FIDO Board is committed for the long term to protect this park.

Upcoming outreach events - Can you volunteer?

1. Sunday, April 27th: EarthFair in Balboa Park 9am - 5pm
2. Saturday, May 10th: Walk for Animals at Liberty Station 7am - noon
3. Saturday, July 12th: Doggie Street Fair at Liberty Station 9am - 4pm

One - and usually two - FIDO Board members will be there throughout to answer address anything that might come up and to close up at the end of the event. If you can help, please reply to this email indicating, first, what event/s and second, what 2 or 3-hour shift/s work for you. If you can do end-of-the-day, please let us know, since this is always harder to fill. Also include anything else you'd like us to know.

Once you choose which event/s you're interested in, we'll provide additional confirming details and create a draft schedule to be finetuned.

Thanks for your consideration! Please email volunteer@FIDOSD.org with any questions.

Our Pet of the Week is one stunning black kitten - Patrick is a true charmer! Black cats have a particularly tough time being adopted due to superstition. This guy is such a charmer that even I'm having some witchcraft suspicions, but I'm sure it's just his warm personality that draws the crowds.More >>
