LOS ANGELES, Dec. 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Shop-Hers, the peer-to-peer online luxury resale site launched in November 2012 has gained the attention of top investors in their latest funding round. Bono and investment entity Elevation Partners have invested in Facebook and Yelp, and will add Shop-Hers to the portfolio marking their increased influence in the fashion sector. Giving women the ability to buy and sell pre-owned designer merchandise, Shop-Hers has fine-tuned the friction points previously seen in the consignment industry.
"At Shop-Hers we are committed to changing the way the world perceives and ultimately shops sustainable fashion," shares Jaclyn Shanfeld. "Bono is no stranger to massively influencing human behavior and with him beside us we are certain that our dream will be realized that much faster." Shop-Hers has also received funding from Floodgate, led by Mike Maples Jr. and Ann Miura-Ko (portfolio includes Refinery 29, Modcloth, and Twitter), David Tisch of The Box Group, Aldo Manzini, Shana Fisher of High Line Venture Partners, and Mike Hirshland of Resolute VC.
The online luxury resale space is a growing industry and Shop-Hers was built to improve the user experience. The site boasts a community of over 450K users and was built as a social shopping destination, with the most popular feature, "style soulmates," pairing women from around the world based on inseam, height, bust, and style leaning. Shop-Hers charges an 18% transaction fee and allows women to set their own price, giving them a profitable way to clear their closet of pre-loved goods.
Shop-Hers currently leads in the international community giving women in over 129 countries access to Shop-Hers closets and an app in development will give women the ability to buy and sell on the go. With guidance of these new financial partners, Shop-Hers will continue to adapt the site to evolve the way shoppers view luxury resale.
About Shop-Hers: Jaclyn Shanfeld founded Shop-Hers in November 2012 along with a team of e-commerce experts. After encountering multiple bad experiences reselling online, Shanfeld set out to create an outlet for women to sell and shop online with total conviction. With the authentication, sizing, return and verification processes, both buyers and sellers are ensured the most enjoyable and efficient experience.
