SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego city employees were emailed a reminder of the city's sexual harassment policies following recent allegations of sexual harassment against Mayor Bob Filner, the City Attorney's Office announced Friday.

The office had not yet received specific information or a claim involving sexual harassment allegations against the mayor, and officials said in a statement they were unaware that any city agency, including the mayor's office, had received a specific claim against Filner.

However, city attorney's officials said they would like to see such information, if it exists.

"When or if our office receives information, we will take appropriate steps to defend the City of San Diego's legal interests and meet its obligations to our employees, including the mayor," the statement said.

At the request of the City Attorney's Office, an email was sent to city employees Thursday evening with a link to the city's equal employment opportunity policy, which included a provision that the city would respond to and if necessary investigate all claims of discrimination, harassment and retaliation.

The email stated the policy was established "to ensure that all city employees, contract workers and volunteers are aware of their rights and responsibilities, and that the workplace was free from discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation in any form. It is expected that every employee will support the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity as stated in this policy in order to create and maintain a high performing work environment."
