He is in need of a new forever home. Here's a note from his current family:
After much debate, discussion, worrying, soul searching, etc, we have decided we need to find a new home for one of our dogs. He is a wonderful dog and deserves more than we can give him at this time. His name is Nico, he will be 4 on May 13. He is an American Bully and like most bullies he is a snuggler, loves people and kids. He is about 18in tall and weight around 55 pounds. We adopted Nico 2 years ago and I worked from home while pregnant and on maternity leave, so I was able to spend a lot of time with him and help correct most of his bad habits. With work, the commute, the baby, and school, I don't have time to exercise or play much with Nico on a regular basis. He is home with our older dog (who is almost 10) while we are gone, but they have been getting into disagreements since Nico wants to play so much. Our older dog is a certified service dog so I will be able to bring him to work with me once he is an only dog, so he won't be home alone.
We are hoping to find Nico a family that has time to walk and play with him daily or that has older kids or an active dog that can run around with him and help get rid of his energy (he plays great with my 4 yr old nephew when he visits from AZ). We send Nico to doggie day camp about once a month and he loves it and does great with all the different dogs (unfortunately we can't afford to send him a couple times a week). He knows the basic commands and does great on walks once we get going. He is a little hard to walk at first because he gets so excited and we don't go very often anymore. He needs a home with a yard and strong fence (he needs to be outside when no one is home so he doesn't eat things he shouldn't). He does fine if someone is at home and he doesn't get into trouble at night when everyone is in bed. He will sleep on his doggie bed by your bed, or in a crate, but would prefer to sleep on the bed with you. Also, he knows how to use a doggie door. He is up to date on all of his shots, neutered, and his micro-chip record will be transferred to his new family. He will come with a soft crate, bed, collars and leashes, etc. If you are interested in him, and would like more information please call or text Jodette at 858-380-9898 for a quick response or email email@example.com(email is only checked at night, so I may not respond immediately).
6/25 UPDATE: The owner is now threatening euthanization if they can't find a new home for Nico this week. Please save this sweet, innocent soul!
