Can you RALLY with Mayor on May 25th?

Posted: Updated:

If you have ever enjoyed walking/running your dogs on Fiesta Island, you know how important it is to keep this area available for San Diego dogs. The Island is large enough to be home to many activities but a road running through the dog walk area will put our dogs in danger and will not allow the big dogs to run, stay healthy and be good citizens.

Please help if you can in the clean up and if not, please let our Mayor know your opinion.

Thank you!
Shelly

ARE YOU ABLE TO ATTEND the Rally on Saturday May 25th with Mayor Bob Filner?

We understand if you can't - it is a holiday weekend - but if you can... please consider it. While the Clean-Up begins at 9:30am and continues until 11am, the rally should only be between 10 - 10:30am.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

The current plans would put a road through the fenced area, along with carving out a paddleboat facility and beach storage area for boats that would seriously alter our ability to use the area as it exists today. If you really love the area, help us show the mayor there are a lot of us who care and don't want the area chopped up or further restricted.

IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND, please send an email to BobFilner@sandiego.gov (with cc: info@FIDOSD.org) asking him to save our current area, leaving it intact without roads - that would forever change how we are able to use the area - in addition to adding unnecessary costs to the plan. You might also point out that dog owners have no other place to go should our area be reduced in size, while paddling groups have other viable alternatives.

City Officials respond to large numbers of citizens, so we need to show them how many of us support retaining the fenced off-leash area and shoreline for off-leash use.

Please e-mail info@FIDOSD.org if you can attend on May 25th. We're currently way short of the several hundred needed.
