July 4 Celebrations: Central San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Downtown San Diego and coastal areas offer firework shows, parades, cruises, carnivals, celebrations and much more in order to help San Diegans celebrate Independence Day:

Coronado
Coronado July 4th Celebration
Location: Spreckels Park
7 am – 9 pm
Start the day off with a 15K-run or 5K-walk in Tidelands Park. Continue onto Spreckels Park for Art in the Park and a twilight concert featuring the Coronado Community Concert Band at 4 pm. The Annual Independence Day Parade along Orange Ave from 1st Street to Churchill Place begins at 10 am. The night will conclude with fireworks over Glorietta Bay, beginning at 9 pm.

Downtown San Diego
12th Annual "Big Bay Boom" Fourth of July Fireworks Show
Fireworks begin at 9 pm
San Diego's biggest fireworks display over the bay can be seen from a variety of locations including Shelter Island, Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, Coronado Landing and Imperial Beach Pier. Ticket packages are available to view the fireworks aboard a ship on the bay.

Star Spangled Pops

June 29 - July 1
Don't miss the opportunity to see a patriotic music performance by the San Diego Master Chorale with Marvin Hamlisch. Tickets are available for $18-$76.

Maritime Museum 4th BBQ Dinner

The BBQ will feature two dinner sessions. View the museum before enjoying dinner. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased for $18-$23 for children and $30-$35 for adults.

Special 4th Adventure Sail Aboard the Californian

Last call for boarding at 11:30 am
Enjoy a four-hour sail around the San Diego Bay on the Official Tall Shop of the State of California.

4th Front Row Seats Fireworks Aboard PILOT- SOLD OUT

Check in ends at 7:30 pm
Enjoy an evening cruise around the San Diego Bay on a 1914 pilot boat. Light snacks, soda and water will be available. Tickets can be purchased for $30.

4th of July Fireworks Sail- SOLD OUT

Watch the spectacular "Big Bay Boom" fireworks show from aboard the Californian on an end of the day cruise. Tickets are available for $50 for children and $85 for adults.

Hornblower Cruises

Boarding ends at 6:30 pm
The three-hour firework dinner cruise celebration includes a buffet dinner, DJ and cocktails for purchase. Watch the "Big Bay Boom" fireworks and enjoy an evening aboard a Hornblower Cruise for $119 per guest.

Red, White & Blue Harbor Cruises

Boarding time at 9:45 am
Choose from a one- or two-hour cruise, and enjoy the view of marine animals and seabirds from indoor or outdoor seating. Beverages, snacks and souvenirs will be available for purchase. Tickets are $23-$28.

WILD WILD WEST 4th of July Fandango

Location: USS Midway
6 pm
Bring the family aboard the USS Midway to enjoy live music by NRG, country dance lessons, mechanical bull riding, activities, contests and more Wild West fun. Guests can view the bay fireworks from aboard the aircraft carrier. Tickets are $10 for children and $15 for adults.

Red, White and Brew Pub Crawl

July 3, 5 – 9 pm
July 4, 2 – 9 pm
Visit the best bars in San Diego and enjoy special deals, all for $10.


Fiesta Island/Seaworld
Fireworks

Fireworks will be launched from Fiesta Island and can be seen from Crown Point Park & Beach, North Mission Bay, Tecolote Shores Park & Fiesta Island near East Mission Bay, Ski Beach Park, Vacation Isle, South Shores Park and east of Seaworld.

La Jolla
Concert & Fireworks
Location: La Jolla Cove
5 pm
Enjoy a 4th of July on the beach with an evening concert, followed by a fireworks display over the ocean.

Ocean Beach
Fireworks
Location: Ocean Beach
9 pm
A fireworks display will be launched from Ocean Beach Pier.

Old Town
Old Town San Diego July 4th Celebration
Location: Old Town, San Diego Avenue and Twigg Street
11:30 am
Do 4th of July 1800s style! Old Town's celebration will kick of with a 28 star flag raising, followed immediately by a parade. The family can enjoy a patriotic hat making contest and explore games and activities enjoyed by those in the 1800s.

University City
University City Celebration
Location: Standley Park
8 am – 4 pm
The celebration kicks off with a morning 5K-run/walk followed by a pancake breakfast. The festival begins at 11 am with inflatables, a rock wall, games, food, shopping, games and more. Free swim will also be available from 12 -4 pm at Swanson Pool.
