Look at the new catwoman!

By Ruth 66

Anne Hathaway is the latest actress cast to play Catwoman. The film, The Dark Knight Rises, won't be out until July of next summer, but it's already fueled a lot of speculation about what the costume will look like and if Anne will be the best Catwoman ever.

HollywoodLife.com says, "Hathaway's costume won't be quite as suggestive as Catwomen of yore, but more tactical, like the comic book, than the previous Batman movies." A source very close to the costume design told the website, "She will definitely be wearing the goggles and it's going to be less sexy than Halle Berry and Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman costumes. She's going to look more like a robber, but this costume is going to be form-fitting enough to make Anne look smoking hot."

Julie Newmar was the first to play Catwoman on the screen, with Adam West for two seasons in the '60s TV series. After that, she left the show to pursue a film career and was replaced by Eartha Kitt, the first black woman to play Catwoman.

The first "Batman" movie was made in 1966, after the first season of the popular TV show. But since Newmar was unavailable at the time, Lee Meriwether stepped in to play Catwoman.

One of the sexiest women to ever play Catwoman was, of course, Michelle Pfeiffer, in 1992's Batman Returns. In the movie, her mythology was changed—she was the secretary of a tycoon. In 1993, following the movie, Catwoman got her very first comic book series.

ABC News says Pfeiffer was apparently going to reprise her Catwoman role in another film, but the project floated in development for years. In 2004, Halle Berry was given the role. The movie netted Berry a Razzie. She looked hot, but her acting fizzled.

Who was your favorite Catwoman? Will you go see the new movie next summer?
