2010 was a life changing year for our family with the arrival of our little Lilah. It's hard to remember what life was like before she came along but I'm fairly certain I used to be able to stay up until midnight to ring in the new year.
Not this year. Nope! I could barely keep my eyes open long enough to watch Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin (awkward!) countdown to the ball drop on the East Coast feed.
In 2011 there will be no sleeping in on weekends (not much sleeping at all actually), no laying on the couch watching an entire 2-hour episode of The Bachelor, no eating sitting down and no leisurely showers where I have time to both wash my hair AND shave my legs.
But I'm not complaining because in 2011 I will witness my daughter's now gummy grin start to fill up with teeth, teeth she'll use to taste new and exciting things for the first time.
In 2011 she'll start to crawl then discover that those things on the ends of her legs serve a bigger purpose than just something convenient to stick in her mouth.
In 2011 she'll utter her first words. I wouldn't be surprised if she blurts out a full traffic report since she heard so many of them while she was in my belly!
and in 2011 I'll continue to do what I promised myself I wouldn't: talk way too much about my baby girl to people who were probably just being polite when they asked me how she's doing.
Happy 2011! I hope it's filled with new and exciting adventures that you'll experience with as much awe as a newborn baby!
