This Wednesday night, May 26th, at Anthology, I will be the emcee for a concert to benefit the California Music Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to keeping music education in our schools. Topping the 4 band bill will be Glory, San Diego's most popular and influential "underground" rock band of the 1970's. Glory features lead guitarist Jerry Raney, fondly remembered as guitarist for the Beat Farmers, who currently front its offshoot, the Farmers. On the slide guitar will be Jack Butler, currently guitarist for Private Domain. Bassist Greg Willis has spent time with Iron Butterfly and Candye Kane's band, and drummer Jack Pinney, who was also in Iron Butterfly and who currently propels the Modern Rhythm Band.
Before the Glory reunion, Modern Rhythm, Private Domain and the Farmers will each perform short sets. As it is a charity gig, your admission will be tax-deductible.
Showtime is 7 pm. I hope to see you this Wednesday night at Anthology on India Street in Little Italy!
