BACKGROUND AND PRE-DSC
I grew up in a Seattle suburb and since I was a teenager knew I wanted to work in radio. I moved to San Diego to attend college at San Diego State and during my time there, was given the opportunity to work with the DSC.
Prior to working for DSC, I worked in radio in Seattle. I have also had random side jobs while working in radio - from playing music during Padres and Chargers games to working at an online silverware store; an employee of Sam Goody to brief stints as a barista and hostess.
GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT PROFESSIONALLY
My greatest personal accomplishment was realizing how much I love being involved with those who are less fortunate in my community. I spent many years mentoring in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. I've also done homeless outreach through my church, going down near East Village and feeding and socializing with them. In my time in Los Angeles, I was involved with a couple incredible events on Skid Row - Mother's Day Makeovers and Father's Day Strong Man competition. Helping others absolutely makes my heart happier than almost everything else.
GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT PERSONALLY
My most recent professional accomplishment I am proud of was spending a day at Charger's training camp, trying to learn different football skills from the players. Nate Kaeding attempted to teach me how to kick a field goal - I was terrible! David Binn and Mike Scifres showed me snapping and punting, which I was able to pull off somewhat, but not extremely well. And Darren Sproles taught me how to catch the ball, which I did successfully! All of this was videotaped for a web segment I was doing, "Emily vs. San Diego."
My family consists of my dad - Dennis; my mom - Debbie; my younger brother - Andrew. They all reside in Auburn, WA, just south of Seattle. I also have a four year old niece, Kylie, who is my world.
My hobbies include (in no particular order)...discovering new music, helping those less fortunate, spending time with friends and family, seeking out adrenaline type adventures, producing videos, exploring new neighborhoods, hiking, reading,
ROLE ON SHOW
I am the producer, a.k.a. Girl Friday or Jane of All Trades...I do a little bit of everything!!
FUN OR INTERESTING THING?
Fun or interesting, hmm... This year I gave myself a list of 30 things I would like to do before I turn 30 (next July). They range from physical challenges (successfully do one arm pushups), ways to help others (build a house for a stranger), and few things just for the fun of it for me (own a pair of Christian Louboutins). Just crossed the first one off my list - "Get a job!" :)
